NameCheap Description
NameCheap is an ICANN accredited domain registrar that was started up in 2000. Millions of domains are registered using their service every year. They’ve also opened up a new web hosting service to webmasters but are mostly known for their registration service which has received awards for customer support and competitive prices.
NameCheap Detailed Overview
Throughout the years, I’ve used different companies to register my domains. I noticed that some companies charged way too much for domain registration and always charged you additional fees for privacy, domain transfers, and other features. Out of the different companies I used, NameCheap is one of the few that really stands out.
Like other registrars, you can search for available domain names and extensions. But what I like about NameCheap is that they offer you information on domains that are already taken such as the expiration date and where to buy the domain. The thing that makes me think NameCheap really cares for their customers is that they actually help you sell your domain in their marketplace. You can put a domain you don’t want without any insane broker fees or hassle.
The user experience with NameCheap is amongst the best. The interface is so clean and easy to use. You can set passwords for your domains, manage the DNS, set custom name servers, and more. The DNS seems to update and connect with your host faster than 3 other services I’ve used which is a huge plus. I hate waiting for the domain to be set when I want to get my site up and running fast.
For such a great service, they only charge $8.88 per domain (discounted to $7.95 per year if you register for 3 years). It’s possible to find registrars that offer better pricing but in my opinion, NameCheap offers better customer support and is more reliable. You can also pay via Paypal instead of credit card.
They recently added WhoisGuard to protect your private information. This will protect your email from spam as well as hide your telephone and address. It’s free for one domain, $4.88/yr for 2 domains, and $7.88 for 5 domains. Their rate is incredibly cheap compared to other companies that offer privacy protection. You’ll often see rates ranging from $7-$9.99 for one domain.
A handy feature is the bulk update tool. Rather than make changes to one domain only, you can set all your. The fact that NameCheap doesn’t charge you a transfer fee is a big plus in my book (you just need to add an extra year subscription). Many companies charge you anywhere from $10-$30 to transfer domains. There are no transfer fees on your way out either. Other features they offer are free email forwarding, free URL forwarding, real time DNS servers, custom parking page, and registrar lock.
Now I want to talk about their web hosting. This is a relatively new service they have added. They offer regular Shared Hosting, VPS Hosting, Business Hosting, and Reseller accounts. I’m going to talk about their shared hosting plans as it will probably be what most people will use.
They use Cpanel and support PHP 4/5, SSH, Perl, Ruby on Rails, and cron jobs. They also offer various scripts such as Fantastico, a site builder, a forum script, shopping cart scripts, and CMS scripts. All these features definitely match the top web hosts in the business which means that NameCheap is taking their hosting service seriously.
Everything seemed okay but I did see flaws in their hosting plans. The basic hosting costs $39.95/year and offers 5GB disk space, 250GB bandwidth, 15 subdomains, and 1 hosting domains. Their pro hosting plan costs $6.95/month or $69.95/year and offers 100GB disk space, 1000GB bandwidth, unlimited subdomains, and 20 hosted domains. Finally, the preferred hosting plan is $13.95/month or $139.95/year and offers 200GB diskspace, 2000GB bandwidth, unlimited subdomains, and 100 hosted domains.
Most people will opt for the pro hosting plan but there are many web hosts out there that offer unlimited domains/bandwidth/diskspace for similar prices. For someone that doesn’t need all that NameCheap is a great choice but because I have dozens of domains and upload a lot of files on my servers.
Their servers seem to be pretty fast and they have set up a solid hosting infrastructure so it stays that way. Third party tests reveal that their up time is on par with the best hosting companies at 99.1%. The more established companies seem to have slightly better uptime but NameCheap doesn’t have any problems as far as keeping your website running.
The one highlight about NameCheap seems to be their customer support. You can use the Knowledgebase for simple problems or submit a ticket if you need to reach them. They respond on the same day and have trained staff to help you with your request. You can also use live support to get a response in real time. The most I had to wait was 4 minutes in order to get somebody to help me.

NameCheap Reputation
To sum up, NameCheap is one of the best companies to register your domain with. Customers have rated NameCheap as the best registrar across many review sites. I personally found that the free whois privacy feature (for the first domain) they offer is very valuable.
NameCheap’s hosting service also seems solid as they have very good customer support, uptime, and run on fast servers. My only complaint is that they offer limited hosted domains for all their plans. They do have limits on the disk space and bandwidth but provide enough so that the average person won’t run out. Both of their services are top quality and highly recommended but you can probably find a better web host provider. Many people may want to just get their hosting from NameCheap to manage everything from one service.

Terrible customer service 14:05Roman G: At the moment, your IP address is unblocked and DKIM record is enabled. 14:09Joe Allen: yes, we are functioning again, but since this has happened three times in the past three days, I have no confidence that we will not continue to have this issue. I need the transfer code and refund of 10 months of hosting 14:10Joe Allen: something as basic as email should not require four hours a week dealing with hosting’s poor reputation due to spam and blocking of IP addresses. We have far more valuable things to do with our time. 14:10Joe Allen: referral code and refund please 14:11Roman G: We are very sorry for the inconvenience you have faced. Unfortunately, refund for hosting package is possible only within 14 days after the hosting purchase. 14:12Joe Allen: And unfortunately Namecheap is in breach of contract for failure to provide adquate service. 14:13Joe Allen: adequate service 14:13Joe Allen: If necessary I will be contacting our credit card company to report fraud and posting negative reviews through multiple customer review avenues if necessary 14:14Joe Allen: Namecheap was paid based on an agreement that namecheap failed to uphold their side of the contract. We are not liable for namecheap’s failure to uphold their side of the contract 14:15Joe Allen: referral code and refund will be required. 14:15Roman G: The refund is provided within 14 days after the hosting purchase. 14:16Roman G: This is our policy. 14:16Joe Allen: Then fraud will be reported to our credit card company 14:16Joe Allen: referral code 14:16Roman G: In case you would like to transfer your domain, I will transfer our chat conversation to the correspondent department. 14:17Joe Allen: reporting fraud for breach of contract is my policy In short, they are used by spammers and their poor server reputation leads to our corporate emails being blocked by many of our customers. Then after changing ISP’s, our ISP’s IP address was blocked every eight hours by their email servers with no apparent cause or remedy other than contacting them via chat (there is no customer service phone number listed). I requested refund for our final 10 months of service due to breach of contract for failure to provide consistent hosting. They refused refund and we have reported them for fraud to our credit card comapany. Needless to say, we are changing our company hosting today and are strongly discouraging anyone against using namecheap.

Best Domain Registrar They're fast, efficient and provide WHOIS guard with all your domain purchases and that is absolutely free. Setting up nameservers was easy as well. There's a video tutorial of 1 minute that tells you the steps to set up nameservers, forwarding your domain to another domain and most importantly how to transfer domains. Everything was a breeze. Take my word. This may be the new kid on the block but go after it. You will not be disappointed.

Great alternative, from godaddy I think most who are in that business should follow their service. Note: If your too lazy to find valid godaddy promo codes, just go here, but the price is roughly around the same.

One of the best and cheapest available Also, another good thing is that it has very minimal setup requirements and totally user friendly even for the very nominal computer user. I had 2 names bought for my younger siblings, and they have mastered the art of name registration in no time. I would rate it a B only because it lacks a bit on customer service. I'm not a total geek to know everything by myself, and I would definitely appreciate some customer support from their end. Thanks :)

I Used them because they were cheap.. I got almost what I wanted I have over 75 domains registered and have used 3 others. They may be ICANN accredited, but the domains I have registered through them show "ICANN Registrar: ENOM, INC. " Some changes I have made at Namecheap are delayed perhaps by communication latency between their servers and Enom's. On more than one occasion changes made at Namecheap have not been passed to Enom. My recommendation is STAY AWAY. I might have saved a couple of dollars on registration fees, but the half hour wasted on more than one occasion makes it a bad deal as far as I am concerned.

Great Provider My experience with NameCheap was excellent but the service provided should be upgraded. An unlimited plan would really help them retain a lot of theirs customers. A good feature and probably the best is that they do not charge for domain transfer, that's something you don't get to see these days.

Best Domain Registrar I've Used I did a lot of research on forums and heard good things about NameCheap, both on price and service. I have now used NameCheap for years and haven't had any complaints. When I've had a question, I've submitted a ticket and gotten quick and good service. They have some great promotions such as often free WhoIs Guard and sometimes even free SSL certificates for a year which was running at the time of this post.

Just great but could be better Initially I was trying GoDaddy.com for I kept having problems with it's payment gateway that I ended up registering with NameCheap. Registration of a domain with NameCheap is a breeze. Payment using Paypal is efficient. NameCheap also offers other services such as Whois protection. Their rates are quite low and I even registered one of my .info domain names for only $1.99! It has a very user-friendly interface and it is really easy to set up email and URL forwarding. Namecheap sends email to update users about coming expiration of their domain names which is sweet. I highly recommend name cheap to anyone who wants to register a domain. I refuse to use any other Domain Name registration service now, like webs and wix.com. In my mind name cheap is hands down the best. With every domain name you get free domain privacy which in my opinion is reason enough to use only them. Registration is cheap. There's always a coupon code out there. The website also loads very fast. I've never had any problems with their service and customer service has always answered my requests within an hour.

I could never recommend NameCheap to anyone Every problem was "my problem", nothing they could do. They told me to contact my email service and take off some kind of spam protection, temporarily, so their emails could be delivered to me. (Funny, I seem to have gotten their email newsletter okay until I unsubscribed.) Every time I contacted their "customer service", I was put back at the bottom of the heap, a different person almost every time, and a different reason why this transfer could not get done. I will never touch them again, nor recommend them to anyone. The least little problem and they are horrible.

NameCheap vs GoDaddy: NameCheap 100 times over Always check their forums for coupon codes, as you'll save a bit of money, and as their name suggests, you can't find another LEGITIMATE registrar that will charge you less. Best service I have ever used. I had one hiccup with their service, but it turned out to be PayPals IPN service. So, if you are wanting a cheap domain with a one-year FREE whois protection service (And right now they are offering a 1-year free SSL certificate for each new domain registered), NameCheap is the most reliable service, who won't give up your blocked WhoIs information upon a request (without a subpoena) like GoDaddy does.

Namecheap always provide the best service to customers When I tried namecheap hosting, I'm interested in unlimited subdomain service. For me, provide limits on the bandwidth is not a serious problem. My first blog did not spend 60 GB bandwidth per month. The biggest advantage we can get from namecheap is unlimited subdomains. As with a non-master to bring visitors to your blog, of course, the easiest alternative is to make a lot of blogs that can collect a lot of visitors from various niches. And I thought, namecheap hosting is the right choice.
